About IMPACT ACADEMY

Impact Academy of Arts and Technology is a tuition-free public charter school in Hayward, serving grades 6 through 12 and dedicated to transforming students’ lives by preparing them for success in college and in life. Impact Academy offers students a rigorous academic experience and a diverse, compassionate community in which to grow. Our students are inspired and empowered to be leaders in their high school education and their communities.

Impact Academy is one of three Bay Area charter schools operated by Envision Education, a charter management and education consulting organization founded in 2002.

In 2014, Impact Academy was the subject of an important study conducted by the Stanford Center for Opportunity Policy in Education (SCOPE); among other things, this study found that Impact Academy is an exemplar of student-centered teaching and learning in an urban environment.  To read the report and learn more about “student-centered learning” in action at Impact, click here: Student Centered Learning at Impact Academy.

WHO WE ARE

Our Core Values

At Impact Academy, we are  guided by five core values that shape our community and inspire our students and staff:

RESPECT, COMMUNITY, JOY, GROWTH, AGENCY

Respect is the cornerstone of our interactions, ensuring that every student and staff member feels valued and heard. We cultivate a strong sense of Community, encouraging collaboration and mutual support to help everyone thrive. Joy permeates our school environment, fostering a love for learning and celebrating each achievement with enthusiasm. Our commitment to Growth drives us to pursue continuous learning and development, both academically and personally. Finally, Agency empowers students and staff alike to take initiative and make meaningful contributions, reinforcing our belief in personal responsibility and autonomy. Together, these values create a nurturing and dynamic environment where everyone in our school can flourish.

Our dedicated college and career counselor works closely with each student, offering personalized guidance to craft a tailored pathway to and through college. By fostering academic excellence and strategic planning, our program supports students in achieving their educational aspirations and fulfilling our mission of preparing them for success beyond graduation.

Our Graduate profile consists of the following competencies which represents the Envision Schools’ vision for 21st-century skills, character traits, and cognitive and social-emotional skills that learners need for success in college, career, and life. Our promise to our students and families is that we will engage our learners in purposeful and meaningful ways that will enable them to build their capacity in demonstrating these competencies throughout their years at Impact Academy and beyond.

Principals’ Welcome

Welcome students and families to Impact Academy of Arts & Technology High School!

I am honored to serve as the principal of Impact Academy, a school and community that I deeply love. Over the past 10 years, I’ve been fortunate to grow alongside this incredible school, starting as a biology teacher and later serving as a lead teacher and vice principal before stepping into my current role. For the past six years as an administrator, I’ve been inspired daily by the commitment and passion that defines Impact Academy. Our mission—to prepare and inspire all students to enter, succeed in, and graduate from college—drives everything we do. It is a privilege to lead a school that invests so much care and dedication into supporting our primarily first-generation college-bound students.

At Impact Academy, we know that a strong sense of belonging is essential for student success. That’s why we prioritize building community through our advisory model. Advisory provides students with a home base where they can form close bonds with classmates and teachers through Circles, celebrations, games, competitions, and community meetings. These moments create a sense of connection that strengthens our school’s culture and enhances the high school experience. Alongside this focus on community, we offer a rigorous academic program. Our Math and English classes are aligned with the Common Core standards, while our Science curriculum follows the Next Generation Science Standards, ensuring our students are prepared for college and beyond.

One of the greatest strengths of Impact Academy is our incredible staff. I’ve never worked with a group more dedicated to providing a rigorous curriculum, fostering strong relationships with students, and celebrating their brilliance. Our teachers and staff go above and beyond to ensure every student feels supported and challenged, both academically and personally. Whether you are a current student or family, or considering joining our community, know that you are stepping into a school filled with pride, purpose, and possibilities. Welcome to Impact Academy!

In solidarity,
